To improve the quality of feedback, and assess more clearly the coverage of the mastery curriculum we introduced the following:
- Both in planning and in the books, teachers create ‘learning labels’ which state the objective, as well as the ‘key steps’ for each child to demonstrate their learning;
- There is a box for the teacher to tick when each milestone is seen;
- The labels are the same design in every year group, enabling the process to become embedded;
- It is easy to plan for the stages missed or requiring re-teaching or intervention.
